Lessons Learnt (and Hopefully NOT Forgotten!)

Another year flew by. Especially the second half of the year felt like the blink of an eye. Time for a little bit of introspection. 2015 has taught me many things, no doubt. But what have I learnt? (See, there's a difference between 'teaching' and 'learning'!)
When I think back I realise I have learnt quite a few things- some good, and some crucial ones. Here are the five best ones in no particular order. Let the Monday blues flow!

1)A regular daily routine can work wonders!
I've never been an owl all these years, but from quite some time I couldn't manage to set up a fixed daily routine. And often as the week progressed I'd be feeling exhausted, literally waiting for the weekend to arrive, when all I would do is sleep. Making small yet positive changes since last January, one step at a time, has helped so much. Now I even wake up before the alarm rings!

2)Punctuality can be INJURIOUS to health!
Now this is something only a person very particular about time and timings can relate to. This is a habit that was ingrained into me as a kid. Over the years we have experienced on countless occasions, how irritating this 'virtue' can get. But have I really learnt to arrive somewhere 'fashionably' late? That needs to be seen this year.

3)Tolerance
Intolerance seemed to be a very popular word in the last quarter of the year. Well surprisingly for me it was the other way round. I learnt to be more tolerant towards many things/people/situations, something I couldn't expect from myself say a year ago. Has it really helped? To a large extent- yes, but then I also realised I have stopped responding to situations appropriately; sometimes I'm just indifferent, and that doesn't help anyone. So that's something I've realised needs to change.

4)Something CREATIVE a day, keeps the BLUES away!
Holds true for almost anyone. It could be as simple as doodling away on a waste bit of paper or writing down a page or two in my journal, to actually sitting down with the brush and palette. And it always works wonders, every single time.

5)Things are NOT what they seem.
This I've experienced in both positive and negative ways. I have received help from people in many a unexpected situations. And there have been a few Et-Tu-Brutus times as well, some sticky ones at that. But then I firmly believe things have a way of working themselves out when the situation is not under our control, and accordingly things have fallen in place. Also, having skin as thick as a buffalo certainly helps. Taunts or sarcastic comments directed towards you magically seem to bounce off! ;)

These are the top five pearls from 2015 that I hope to learn something from. What are yours?
